I have 2 bassets.

One European of 74 lbs. and a Brazilian that is 78 lbs.

The temperament of the 2 dogs is very different I am having trouble finding any info on the Brazilian Basset! Does anyone have any input?

Near as I can tell, the best-known Brazilian breeder seems to use a combination of American and European lines, although the pictures of their dogs that I have seen tend more towards the European style.

*shrug* different dogs have different personalities, even in the same breed, even in the same litter. I don't think it has much to do with what country they came from.

I don't think I can be of much help here.

Jake is considered (I guess) more of an American Basset. Ellie is more of a European (much more wrinkly). I have not really heard of a Brazilian.

Jake is 13 yo and hovers around 65 lbs. Ellie is about 10-11 mo. and is about 45 lbs.

All my bassets have had very distinct personalities and quirks. Jake, not much into toys or balls, likes raw hides... but only to "hide" (and not very well, tends to put them in Open corners). His "turn-ons" are treats and affection.

Ellie loves playing with stuffed/squeaky toys, chasing balls and will destroy a raw hides in no time. Also a glutton for belly rubs and cuddling.

Abby (RIP) loved stuffed squeaky toys, but afraid of balls, and not much into chews.

Sophie (RIP... not a basset) loved stuffed toys, but would only carry around her "babies", liked chews, not into balls.

I raised/trained all my dogs pretty much the same way. they just have their own personalities and likes/dislikes.

Kinda' like Kids. My parents raised my brother and I in the same house, same way, and we are two different people.

Embrace their differences, and spoil them both rotten!

I too think you'll find this is more about just two different Bassets! Yes, for sure Bassets in Brazil do have a lot of European (not UK, European but then European Bassets came for the most part, from the UK originally but with some American bloodlines in there now) blood in them, but that shouldn't make any difference in temperament specifically. Googling Bassets in Brazil suggest it's more about looks (big heavy) than anything.
