Our basset hound ,Lucy, was queen of our neighborhood! Everybody loved her and she loved everybody b/c she was so sweet. It would literally take us two hours to get a walk around the neighborhood because Lucy insisted on visiting every house where she knew there was someone who would say "hello". She wasn't looking for treats, just a pat on the head and a wag of her tail, then she'd be on her way to the next house! I used to take her to other parts of town to walk where she didn't know people so well, so that we could actually walk, but everywhere we went, she made friends. When she crossed the rainbow bridge last Oct. 09, the whole neighborhood was sad, people came to see us, sent cards and cried with us. It was amazing to see how much love one little hound dog shared with our town.

When company would come to our house, we would tell people, don't sit on the couch unless you want a 50 pound dog on your lap, and then even if they sat in an individual chair, she'd find a way to get on the lap of her favorite visitor. When our kids had friends sleep over, she always slept with the newest friend! She was the best snuggler ever...............we are having a cold snowy winter in PA and I sure do miss having a real live bed warmer! Hopefully by next winter, we'll have another basset.
