I cook for my dogs and feed raw a couple of times a week. BUT really want to second what BubbaLeroy said about Innova - there's another one (or it may actually be the same brand) called EVO that is really good. These are foods with no grains and that also meet all the standards. Whole Dog Journal rated them very high as well.

When we go out of town we have our sitter feed EVO and add some chicken, salmon or cottage cheese - just so they get some of the stuff they are used too. The dogs really love it - it's like a special treat after all that human food.

Stickers has been eating Eukanuba Lamb & Rice for almost 2 years. She loves it. It's about $42 for a 35 pound bag. She get some pumpkin & green beans for lunch everyday. It helps her empty her anals. Rusty was on the same food but after a long bout with mucous covered stool and no end in sight, he is on Vet prescription food. He eats Royal Canin Hypoallergenic Diet. It addresses skin issues, irritable bowel & pancreatic problems. He LOVES it and also produces much less stool and it's smaller & firm!!! The down side  is 37 pounds is $82!!!!!!!!!! He gets a small portion of fresh green beans and carrots for lunch just to fill his belly since I cut back the portion when he went on the Royal Canin. It's higher in fat.[/b]
Do you mix the pumpkin and green beans together and how much do you give her?

We feed Innova Evo dry and canned to both our dogs and our cats. They all do beautifully on it, and I trust their ingredient sources.

I feed with Vom & Hundemat. It's a Norwegian brand that comes frozen, in blocks of
44 lbs or as 2.2 lbs. It raw parts of meat, cow intestines and bone and added vitamins
and minerals, and can be used as the only nutrition source. It has a good reputation and
Mr. Runcible loves it.

For lunch everyday, I give Stickers a palm full size of chopped fresh green beans mixed in with 2 palm size scoops of canned pumpkin. Make sure you don't buy the Pumpkin Pie Filling. It has added spices & sugar. Just plain Libby's Pumpkin. She loves her lunch and it has helped make her stool firmer :)

Rusty's lunch is palm size of chopped fresh green beans and a palm size of chopped fresh carrots to fill his belly and not add weight to him :)

I'd always thought the pictures of Ruby's face were cute, but for some reason, the whole Ruby is even cuter :)

Baxter Basset: on the price for INNOVA a 6.6# bag (green bag) of adult dry kibble was $13.99 and a can of canned INNOVA was $1.49. We buy the larger bags, which makes the price cheaper, but the price is not on the one we presently have. We recently bought the small bag to use in the motorhome, so I had that price. You do feed less of this brand because of it's high quality than you do with many of the cheaper brands. The bag states for a 50 pound dog that is inactive: 1.92 cups per day; moderate activity:2.11 cups per day; active activity:2.33 cups per day; performance activity: 2.91 cups per day.

Black Gold 26/18 2 1/2 to 3 cups a day depends on if it's winter or summer and how hard i'm training Ike,he has never been fed over 3 cups ever and he is in awesome shape with a great coat. $18.00 for a 50 lbs. bag and i can get it cheaper if i buy it by the ton. all the dogs here at Pinehawk Kennels get it and are in awesome shape. Pinkwhip has seen Ike in the Flesh and he has the body of a god ,not the same god that i have a body of. i'm actully thinking of placing his stud ad in the rabbit hunter magazine for him. i do have one breeding lined up for him this week,i'm taking him to west virginia to another AHBA person.Smart move for using Ike in his breeding program, should be a nice cross and be some rabbit dawgs deluxe!!!!

I am currently feeding my hounds SportMix.

I run my coonhounds and bassets in the field so I have to take that into account when feeding them. Since they are working dogs, they need a food that will keep their body in perfect nutritional shape.

i've been hearing a bit of a buzz about the sportmix on some beagle websites, most seem to like it.i'll stick with Black Gold since i can now get it in my area( my area,a hour and a half away!! lol). my new Field Champ got it when he was younger and now is back on it,as is my 2 beagles and my wife's chihuahua. all have good coats and low stool volume. bottom line with any food is real simple feed what you can afford and what your dog does the best on.
