WET BASSETS

It's raining out, I'm going mad
yes, I admit-stark raving nuts
I'm stuck in the house with two wet dogs
please save me from these crazy mutts

We've started to dig a patio
and hauled in lots of soil
so naurally, it starts to rain
and our patio plans, it did foil

It's been coming down for 48 hours
and there is no end in sight
the backyard is now submerged
surely you see my plight...

We have a lake now, out in the back
the dogs just think it's oh so cool
that we have dug out such a thing
as their very own swimming pool

they roll around in the grass and the mud
and come in all dirty and wet
and of course will no doubt catch a cold
which means a costly trip to the vet

Oh woe is me, I need some help
I'm feeling such despair
think I'll just have to give up
and cuddle with this soggy pair!

Poor Sandy

Apparently it is a good day for ducks and writing poetry.

Chin up, the smell of wet dog is better than the smell of no dog. I'm in your little sinking ship also, it has only been a day and it just seems so grey.

Go and look at some of Steinar's pics. They are sure to cheer you up, then cuddle away.

Ugh...rain! My backyard is under 2 feet of water and my house is also really starting to get that dank feeling and smell. I just spent some money on potpourri and one of those plug-in air fresheners to try to freshen the place up.
The meteorologists are forecasting more rain for the weekend!!! This is just vile.
I guess Franny and I are going to spend yet another weekend curled up on the couch with a cup of tea and a few books.

You get to read books?

I have difficulty turning the pages of mine while Snoopy's sucking the top of the book.

And if anyone's read The Innocent by Harlen Coben, I'd like to know the ending as someone rang me, and while I was on the phone, Snoopy ate the last few pages.

I love hearing about all of the rain you all are getting. If I try really hard I can imagine it is dark and the rain is falling and it is cool and that is why we are all staying in the house and reading books.
Then reality sets in, I look out at 100 degree day, beating sun and brown grass and remember that the a/c is on, Oliver is laying on the tile panting and baby and I stay in most of the day to keep from burning or overheating. 8)

Pictures of rain would be appreciated to help in my delusional days. :D

When Daug was about a year old she needed to go outside to do her business, the only problem was it raining. Daug's solution was to back up to the edge of the porch so just her rear half stuck out in the rain. I guess it was better to be a half wet than all wet.

this sight never ceases to amaze me talented poets and bassets who allow their slaves to read. my training methods must be wrong but it's very hard to train when your laughing so hard with a big wet basset nose trying to force it's way into my mouth.
