Wow! It looks like winter has arrived on your mountain! I always love seeing pictures of your dogs trooping through the snow!

I agree with Rubydoo. There are beautiful autum colors. The pretty browns, golds, rusts, and tans in your beautiful hounds. The hounds do look like they are enjoying all the sights and smells of a new snowfall.

Back in January 2003 mwfulkerson, who hasn't posted in a long time, posted a poem he wrote called 'Hounds Breath'. Part of the poem reads:

"You never really see the colour of your hound until snow falls.
Then their black turns to coal
their tan and gold seems to be stolen from the rising sun.
Their beauty captures my heart..."

This poem has been tacked to my refrigerator for 3 years, and I never fail to think of it when I see hounds in the snow.

That poem, and Tina's picture, seem to belong in Sandy's book! :)

Thanx for the reminder of the poem. I have it "somewhere" (the black hole of everything lost because we've moved so many times).

Care to share the whole thing?

Ruby's black fur used to just gleam against the snow in Bassetchusetts! I was going thru old pics over the weekend and found puppy pictures! Now I have to learn how to do the scanner. I'd love to show you all these pics as she was such a cutie patootie!

Janice and snoring (very loudly) Ruby
