Patito seems sick... my first clue, he didnt want to eat this morning! He did poop normally but then he threw up a little and has just been sleeping is this worth a vet trip tpday or should i hold off and see how he is tomorrow??

For the future...what signals indicate i showed take him to the vet right away?

Thanks

weeziness in a deep sleep is normal for basset puppies i believe. Also Hickory has gone on many eating strikes since I've had him as he has hit valleys in his growth spurts. Did you give him any edible chew treats or anything out of the normal to eat recently that could have induced vomiting? I would probably hold off on a vet visit, but thats just me.

Others here will know better, but i believe that because your puppy is so young (estimated to be 6-8 weeks, if I remember?), you should take the diarrhea & vomiting seriously & get him checked out. also because he can get dehydrated easily. and he may not be fully protected yet (still undergoing vaccinations).

in adult dogs w/vomiting & diarrhea, it is more ok to take a wait-and-see approach, but not as much in puppies so young.

I am really worried about him there are no vets here open on sundays but my host dad has meds and when he gets home i am calling my vet in america to see what he says it is possible he has parvo in which case there is nothing they can do for him here. He has not vomited since this morning and has had diarreah three times he still wont eat or drink but i have been giving him drops of water every five minutes...he is just sleeping which is not a good sign

He was exposed to parvo ,how did that happen? At 6-7weeks he hasn't had any, maybe one vaccination. Is the diarrhea bloody or metalic smelling? You have a huge problem if he has parvo and you can't get treatment for him .He will die.

it didnt look bloody or black but my vet from back home said parvo is common here and sometimes there moms arent vaccinated he has not been around other dogs though. this time i would say his poop looked mucusy and green but a little red to

mucasy and green is the bile from the liver and mucas from intestine, a little bloody is probably from the anus/hemmeroid from having diarreah. Sounds like he may have gotten into something he shouldn't have eaten. With puppies you never know...if it was just that and he was acting fine, i'd say wait it out, but since he's being sleepy and lethargic i would totally take him to the vet as soon as you can! i don't think parvo, but getting him checked out would be good!

Went to the vet today he seems to be doing better although i think the meds he took are causing him to be a pee machine and i let him sleep in my lap yesterday while sick so i am training him to love his crate again...right now is a struggle b/c the vet said he could only eat two tablespoons patito doesnt want to play or hang just keeps sniffing around where his food is stored

all is well for now!
