Update on Murray's dachshund companion Minna:

After a month of antibiotics and Denamarin, Minna's liver enzymes have continued to rise.

Yesterday she had an ultrasound and xrays, and our vet sent the results out for a consult. Her liver and spleen are enlarged, but no evidence of a tumor, so we've decided to just continue moitoring her enzyme levels. If these continue to increase, she'll have a surgical biopsy.

Sorry to hear Minna's enzyme levels have not gone down. Have you heard back from your vet yet?[/b]
Yes, the consulting vet agreed with just monitoring her for awhile. Her next blood work is 3 months from now, and in the meantime she'll continue on the Denamarin to help support her liver functions.

We had a basset several years ago,Louella, who had an enlarged liver and elevated liver enyzmes all her life. She lived to almost 13, and died of congestive heart failure. In her case, neither the size of the liver nor the enzymes meant much...in retrospect, the vet thought she might have had a mild case of inflammatory bowel disease (couldn't tell if from the way she ate!). Hope your doggie's symptoms are also without serious consequence.
We think that's the case with Minna. We're just going to continue monitoring her. Thanks for your response, that makes me feel better about her situation.
