Well, I went....And it was one of the hardest things that I have had to do. I finally got ahold of basset buddies rescue and they had agreed to them going to foster here at my house. I went with a group through Clark County humane society
www.cchs-petshelter.org. They were there to protest.
My husband finally came around by that morning. I sent him to the picket lines while I went in to the auction.
The two bassets were in this cat crate and wouldn't even pick up their heads, they were so sad looking. As soon as anyone would go by them I would shoo them away. Auction time came and I missed out on one of the bassets because I got really confused with the bidding, I couldn't understand the auctioneer and I was so freaked out that I got out bid. I did however end up picking up a French bulldog pup though.
I begged the lady that bought the other basset to sell her to me but she wouldn't budge. That was the only time that I cried in the auction house. I had been able to hold in for quite awhile. I surprised myself.
I know one thing though, there are alot of animal lovers out there. 2/3 of the people that were there were from rescue groups. one lady went home with 30 dogs for rescue.
There were a total of about 220 dogs on the auciton block, most were pups.
Last night when I put them to bed, in one of my cat beds, that this was probably the first soft bed they have ever slept on.
My hubby and our inauguaral pair of fosters are in the following pics. I couln't get any of the inside because there were police patrolling every where.
