Moderators please let me know if this is inappropriate.

As we begin to deal with the sadness of our Roofer having to be put to sleep yesterday we have been deciding what things of his we will be donating to local places and friends/family. One of the items we would like to donate is his “fancy” food bowl we bought a couple years ago to slow down his eating. As we all know bassets can blow through food like nobody’s business and this bowl slowed Rufus’s eating down by about half. So it only took a couple minutes instead of like 10 seconds. If someone could use it let me know. We’ll pick up the shipping in the CONUS.

This is the one we bought. Large, teal.

We use similar bowls and I was thinking of getting another one, so we would be happy to take it unless someone else needs it.

Hi. Although I can totally understand your need to 'remove'..... don't be in too much of a hurry. The first thing I did when we had a loss was to put their dish away so I didn't have to count out one less when making up their meals. And I'd put collar and lead away, but that didn't mean give away.

Eventually I took a load of our stainless steel dishes to a local Shelter. The reaction was 'I suppose they can be sold in our shop'. If the woman had known how hard it was for me to off-load those dishes, she might have been rather more sympathetic.

I know right now that you aren't remotely considering having another Bassset (?) but you might, once the raw feelings of loss become less.

I understand what you’re saying, but this is our second loss in a little over a year. We lost our last pup in Jan 2018. We’ve decided that we don’t want another dog until we are closer to retirement since we both have to work outside the home now. Selfish on our part somewhat, but we like them by our side more than just a few hours every evening and a day on the weekend. We shall see as time goes on.

Collars and tags are made into Christmas tree decorations. The three beds we have will go to family and friends whose aging dogs will appreciate them. The food bowl could be useful to a Bassett owner I’m sure. We’ll use the smaller stainless bowls for water for the neighborhood cats that like to hang out in our backyard. Any of the items with the exception of collars/tags we can easily replace.
