WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am envious! We also have a inground pool and are trying to teach the kids to swim! No such luck! Stickers hates the pool and just swims in a panic in any direction. She isn't getting the idea of where the steps are to get out. We even placed a bright orange traffic cone there teaching the word "target". NOPE! Poor Rusty sinks like a bag of rocks! No bouancy at all! His obedience instructor suggested a life jacket for him. To teach him where the steps are using the "target" and eventually remove the jacket. He will have to be carefully watched until he hopefully gets the hang of it. We will do the same with Stickers.

I won't encourage them to go in the pool, but when they do the Basset 500 on the lanai, someone is going to fall in and they MUST know how to get out. Until then, we live with the ugly safety fence around the pool!

Was that cute or what!!!

Tootie loves being wet, and she likes to swim but isn't as good as those two!

Our pool is above ground, so she can't really 'come and go' as she pleases. But many of you read how she DID manage to jump in on her own last weekend, when she wanted to get to us.

She will lay on the raft for a little while if we hold it, but isn't good at the balancing act. I did get her a little inflatable boat to float in, but we haven't blown it up yet.

That's not my pool or my dogs! I was searching Basset videos on YouTube.com one day and ran across some videos. The guy had this website so I bookmarked it and check it regularly.

He must have had these dogs since they were puppies. They are very well trained and trusting. He has films of doing pretty much everything. If you ever have time, go through some of the archives.

I could only dream of having such well-adjusted Bassets!

Thanks Everybody

Hope you enjoyed the video. As stated above, yes I acquired both my Hounds at the adoption agency. Both were given up by their previous owners which is very sad, alas they found a Good Home.

Take it easy fellow Hound Owners.

Cheers

Ben! Welcome! I do enjoy your videos each Friday. Keep filming! Loved the taco run ...priceless...

PS How in the world did you teach those dogs to swim?! I tried again, after seeing yours in the pool. It's just not happening here. I might try a raft if I can find one that will float my beasts.

Roscoe was the first to learn, I would take him in the pool with me and hold him while he swam. I then showed him all the exit points of the pool so he didn't get rattled. I took a number of times, but once he was comfortable; he jumps in right after me now.

Cheers
