Sore Back leg

My Humphrey boy has been having a problem with his left back leg when he first wakes up in the morning or after a long nap. He seems real reluctant to put any weight on it when he first gets up. After a few minutes of walking around it seems to be better. When I get home from work at night, he runs around like a crazy dog, so the leg doesn't bother him all the time. Is it possible he has arthritis? He's only 3 (we think). Any thoughts?

There are many causes for limping but I'd recommend a visit to your veterinarian for an examination and possilby blood test and x-rays. Limping as you describe could be caused by Lyme Disease or other tick-borne diseases that if untreated can become serious. Soft tissue injury, arthritis, hip dysplasia are only a few conditions that can cause limping. You'd really have to see your vet for any kind of diagnosis and treatment.
