I wonder if someone could tell me how does a genetically altered tail looks like?A friend of mine has a basset with such a tail but since she hasn't got the dog from a puppie and she doesn't know if something happenend to the basset or it is genetically wrong.

Tails provides illustrations of many different types of tails that are the result of selective breeding (and genetics).

Even if your friend's dog's tail look like one of these, it still doesn't indicate for sure whether it's due to injury or genetics. Knowledge of related dogs would probably be the best way to go about evaluating this question.

On the top of the tail there is a little stiff lump and there is a bone underneath the skin. It's as if the tail has been cut of very painfully which has dammaged the bone.But this cannot be seen becaude it's covered with fur,it could inly be felt.
