I feel pretty silly asking this since bassets are used to hunt bunnies, but ...

Yogi and Lady found a nest of bunnies. Most of the bunnies escaped but, by the time I figured out what was going on, both Yogi and Lady had a bunny and were parading around with them in their mouths.

:( ).

Am I being ridiculous? Or could they actually catch something from that?

i would say you are being Real Silly about this.are their shots up to date? then you have nothing to worry about.tell them what good dogs they are for doing what they are bred to do and get them to a AHBA Hunt near you ASAP.there is other "things" out there that have most likly ate that you don't know about, and they have come through it fine.

pinehawk, these are basset wannabes, not bassets (a retriever/ridgeback and a german shepherd).

I wouldn't be nervous but we have tularemia around here -- I even have a friend whose husband got tularemia last summer. But I've gotten it on good advice :)

I might add, my place would be a perfect place for an AHBA event - I have giant mutant bunnies everywhere - the biggest cottontails in the history of the world. Everywhere!
