Yeah, Mr. T, you do look like you've got long legs. I'm sure others on the forum will have more input about the breed. I remember coming across something called the Basset Artesian Normand (sp?) which I thought had longer legs, and is one of the ancestors of the basset hound. maybe take a look at that??

you are very good looking and have such a sad, sad face. btw, my person's last dog was also a Mr. T, so we loooove your name! (when they took Mr. T home as a puppy, they passed by a Trooper II, that was the inspiration for the name... haha, also tells you how long ago that was...)

Trooper is adorable -- he looks like a sweetheart --love the last picture .... so sad about something. He does have long legs but lets just say .....some are tall and some are small....he is just one of the tall kids for his age.....and special!!!

ears are long and the head is not right for a walker.

He may have basset in him but those legs are not from a basset
funny things happen some times and I an not taking mix breed I owned long time a go a pure bread akc registered basset that certainly was not conformation with long straight legs in the 16in" plus range. That of course was a time before DNA parentage testing and there were breeder caught knowingly registering cross breed so even if registered there is a posibility of a dog not really being one. There is no way to know for sure there is no single or group of genetic markers exclusive to pure bread bassets. That said he appears more likely than not to be a cross breed. But I have seen AKC registered dogs I would say the same about as well.

Straighter legs not longer they are no taller than a basset hound actual they are bit shorter.

Official U.K.C. Breed Standard*
The acceptable height range is from 101/4 inches to 141/8 inches.

Disqualifying height is a basset is 15"

You mean he chewed on her so hard he broke her?! Hope the kitten feels better soon.
no she got spayed. he hasnt actually chewed on her. he just likes to put his mouth around her. then when he gets in trouble he lays down and chews on his bone. then the cat runs back and forth in front of him till he chases her again. i have given up rescuing the cat.

I’m no expert, but I’d have to go with everyone else. Not a full basset. But she is a little cutie and so lucky to have you to love her all up.
