Hey all. I was wondering from all who have two or more basset's, how they play together? Do they play rough sometimes? Rosco and Cletus play rough alot and wanted to get everyones view. I'm pretty sure it is normal, but had to ask. They never hurt each other, but there is a lot of play "biting" and wrestling. Thanks.

The young ones tend to be pretty rambunctious. Lots of wrestling, play-growling and play-biting. Occasionally, there's a brief spat, but it usually ends quickly. :)

Mine can get really rough sometimes, but they have never drawn blood. They both have a breaking point, and each will let the other know when he has had enough.
I have never had to pull them apart, but I have had to get after them because they started knocking furniture over.

My two are 1 1/2 years old. They play all the time. Like Betsy said, there is alot of wrestling, puppy biting and puppy growling. They go at it what seems like forever. Usually they know when they have each had enough. I do break it up when I'VE had enough or they start getting carried away in the house. When things start getting knocked over, play time is over! That's how the kids play and get out some of their energy.

Yes, Button and Elmer do that all the time. When they get too rough, I just say "Boys?????" and they stop. (A phrase I learned from our secretary when they were little enough to take to the office each day). Adding the Boxer to the mix just amplified the rough housing , but as long as I know it's just fun, we let them. The second it turns too "ruff" :) I make them stop. And yes, we had a coffee table overturned a couple of weeks ago. Good thing our home is dog-friendly.

Pearly isn't one to play much but when she does play with Sabe it can be rough and very vocal. The only time blood was drawn was when Sabian couldn't get the hint that Pearl wanted to be left alone. From then on he figured it out!
