Hi everyone,

I was trying to upload some pics of our pack and I'm having difficulty. I keep getting "Upload failed. Please ask the administrator to ensure the uploads directory is available". Any thoughts? Thanks.

for adding an avatar see insert photos ?, how to
keep in mind there is a strict size limit on avatars it is best to edit the size before tring to upload.

if posting a picture directly into a post use ubb coding and a photohosting site like photobucket which is one of the reaining few free hosting sites that allow outside links. As a matter of fact the provided a drop down menu which incorporates ubb coding so all you have to do is paste the link with the code all ready added

What is UBB Code?
Mike T,

Thanks for the reply. I have to be perfectly honest with you. I have no idea what you were trying to tell me. I'm not very technically gifted. I did go to the photobucket site and it looks like I loaded two pictures there but I'm not sure how to add it to a post on the forum. Any help for a technically challenged person would be much appreciated. Thanls again.

OK- go to Photobucket.
Point to the picture you want to post
A drop down menu appears under that photo- click on "direct link'. the address of that photo is now copied.

Come back to Cyberhound, open the box to post a message.
Along the top are some little pictures. Count in from the end to the 4th icon from the end. That is the 'insert image' icon.
Click on that.
A long box will open at the top of your screen.Click inside that box. Now click your control key and the letter"v" key at the same time- this copies the address of your photobucket picture into the long box where you just clicked.

Click in the Cyberhound posting area where you want to post the photo.

Now go back to the long box and hit "Ok"- the address will appear in the Cyberhound posting area where you clicked.

Now scroll down a little and click on "Preview Post"- if you were succesful, the photo will appear in the posting box.
Now you can hit "submit" and your post, with photo, will go onto the forum.

I had to go through the process to write the above because I had forgotten how to do this- the photo I posted is Murray at an educational program we did last fall for our pet therapy organization for a Brownie troop( I think he looks very handsome in his little yellow therapy vest!).Murray's tail didn't stop wagging the entire night!

Evertyhing posted above is correct but the easier way is to move down to the Img Code and just copy I find it easier to right click on the "img code" link and hit copy from the drop down menu. Then paste that link into you post by using ctl V or using the browser tool bar funtion for paste which in Internet explore is Edit- Paste. The Ubb code is include when you use the "img code link so you need not bother with learning UBB code or insetring the url ( web site address) into the middle of the quick link for code provided (i.e. the direction provided above]
Murraysmon and Mikey T,

Tremendous thanks for the instructions. After an hour with your instructions, I warned you on my technical skills, I was able to actually insert a picture in a dummy post I had opened. I hope to post some pictures later on this afternoon of our pack because I have to load them to photobucket and then post them. I have to go to work soon. Just a quick question? Why can't I just load a picture from my computer without having to go to a program like Photobucket? I'd never even heard of Photobucket until you mentioned it in your earlier reply? Thanks again for your help. I look forward to reading and posting on this forum often, especially if people like you all are here. Have a blessed day.

PS: The picture I experimented with was kind of big in the post. Is that OK? Should I make it smaller, and if so, how do I make it smaller? Here we go again!

Good Morning!!

This morning I sent the ADMIN (Yung) a note regarding your inquiry about pictures. This picture problem comes up on a regular basis. The new owners of the site have promised technical help and know-how. Here is Yung's chance to turn words into action. Hope you get the help in a timely manner.

Many Howls and great baying to you,

Miss Daisy and her driver, Fritz

Photobucket has an edit function that lets you resize photos, Too large of a size can really slow down the speed of the site for those still on diail-up so an aproapriate sized picture that is large enough to see yet does not take up too much bandwidth is apprecieated.
Mfrank,

Sorry for the delay in my response -- have you figured out how to upload pics or do you still need my help? Let me know and you can send me a PM anytime with your questions.

Thanks
Hi Mfrank,

I believe we have resolved the issue. Please see if it works for you. I uploaded a pic as well.

What am I missing? I don't see anything new except the Mod Room, which is supposed to be for moderators and admin only, but when I click on it I can get into it. I'm confused, but then again I'm getting old and my befuddlement might just be symptomatic.

Dear Murraysmom,

This is ALL my fault. Ever since the change of ownership of this site have taken place I had hopes of improvement. One of the most vexing things was the ease (or lack thereof) to post pictures. I personally had problems with this and have seen several members experiencing the same problems. In every instance the members have been most helpful in seeing the toubled person through their problem. When Yung was introduced, he stated he would help with technical problems. I wrote him a welcome note with a request to look at the picture upload situation. Being impatient, I wrote him two more times. I did not see where this problem was going anywhere, therefore I wrote some things that should have been handled between Yung and myself rather than posted publicly. Yung was professional and we have put to bed my concerns. In effort to correct the picture upload problem (make it easier for ill literates like myself) Yung has made some behind the curtain changes to correct the uploading. Also he added the MOD area that would allow quicker response to ongoing problems. It is not YOU!! It is and was ME!

Hope this clears up the mess I made.
