I am looking into gettting insurance for my two bassets. Which are good reputable providers? Costs? What do they cover? Is it worth it? This week my girl Scarlet had to have emergency surgery to the tune of 4 thousand dollars which is why I'm thinking about this now. It's just amazing how much stuff can add up (especially at the emergency vet on a holiday weekend). I've been skeptical of pet insurance in the past but I'd like to hear peoples experience with it. Thanks for any info!

We have VPI. I'm satisfied with it. For routine things, it doesn't cover all our costs, but costs here in the San Francisco Bay Area are very high. It's especially great for those really high cost items--like surgery or cancer treatment.
