Has anyone used the Panacur Deworming Meds, how were the results? What were the side effects? I just gave benny his first dose, he took it like a champ with zero hesitation. About an hour or so after he had a loose stool, is this a normal occurance or should i contact my vet, again? Thaks of all the advice.

Panacur is considered to be a very safe wormer. Is this what your vet gave you?

I'm not sure it's effective against tapeworms. Vets usually prescribe Droncet - ? - or something that sounds like Droncet for tapes. Your heartworm meds should take care of all the worms Panacur takes care of, or at least mine does (I use Interceptor).

Okay, I just read your post on the Gen forum.

I spend a lot of time browsing livestock forums, and wormers are of great interest to me. :D

That said, Panacur is very safe. Yes, the Heartguard will protect against reinfectation, but you also might want to clean up your yard area, especially if you have stray or visiting dogs coming through.

One thing I've done in the past is pour small amounts of bleach on poop areas  . General yard hygeine will really help.

I don't think you need to call the vet. Panacur really is considered very safe, and it's likely the loose stools are from something else. if it continues, though, give the vet a call!

One thing to remember is that roundworms can live in the soil for a very long time. It is very helpful to clean up the poop, but the possibility remains that the roundworms are still there.

I know of no way to get rid of them (even though i have the sick habit of putting a little bleach on the poopy areas :)

Well...i have him on all the preventive meds i can possible think of (heartguard + and Frontline) I have been picking up the "presents" as soon as they are dropped. So...i am hoping that once the meds get though his system he will be finished with the worms. Thanks for all your advice and comments, they are appreciated.
