You are doing the right thing be getting him to the vet pronto. I hope he's feeling better. Let us know what the vet says. With bassets, back problems are always a possibility and they can suddenly appear for seemingly no reason (just like in people). Hope he has an ok night, and the problem is solved tomorrow.
