...we lost our little Duke to Blastomycosis.

Everyone on here was so concerned, and helped me through such a sad, scary time.
I'll never forget your support! We had lost so many bassets around this time, it was a sad time on the forum. I think it was Bubba's slave who said Duke and Bubba were 'hip to hip' sniffing their way to the bridge. That image made me smile.

..and then my son said Duke would probably get there in about six months, as he has to sniff EVERYTHING along the way. Basset people are the best!
In loving memory of my nap time pal: Duke
Basset Dreams (loosely based on a true story )
Today I felt like I had died
I was feeling just that lousy
So I laid down, Duke at my side
He too, was feeling drowsy
It didn't take long, we nodded off
adrift, each one, in our dreams
cosy and warm,.. the bed was soft,
the duvet was in blues and greens
soon Duke interrupted my bliss
I heard him moan so low...
I quickly new something was amiss
as his moans began to grow
He began to violently twitch
there was a jerking of his feet
I thought perhaps he just had an itch,
after all he was fast asleep!
Then up he jumped, fast as can be
just like his usual habit
only to find the pillow in his teeth
was not a big old rabbit!
