such a sad morning at work today. i'm sitting here at my desk watching a beautiful day roll by, wishing i wasn't working and instead taking toby somewhere fun and exciting, when i heard the most awful noise. it turns out that sound was a dog crying in pain. i work on a moderately busy road (but then again this is houston texas) and someone had hit a dog right in front of my building. the poor baby's leg was broken and no telling what the internal injuries were. some people i work with tried to catch him but he was obviously very frightened. luckily a very sweet woman i work with volunteered to pick him up from animal control and take him to her own vet and hopefully have him join her family. but what i don't understand is why people let their dogs just roam the streets? that's absolutely absurd to me. it's so heartbreaking when stuff like this happens. it's really sad than an animal should have to pay the price of his owner's irresponsibility. sorry y'all, just venting. what a terrible way to start out the work week. but on a lighter note i tried to teach toby the command "beg" over the weekend and it was the cutest darn thing i've ever seen in my life.

I right there with you "FloopyToby", I don't understand people's thinking either. To me, if you really care for your pet, you would make sure he or she is safe at all times. I know things happen and sometimes your pet breaks free but.. most of the time in cases like this, the pet owner just doesn't care, it just the thought of having a pet that they care about not the well being or safety of it.
I hope the woman from your office didn't get to adpoted the dog and that the dog is safe and gets better.
