New Puppy Questions

yesterday was Belle's first day with her new family. We are enjoying all the things that come with puppy expecially bassets.

When it was bed time we have one of those sound machines that make noises. Belle seemed to like the crickets. I checked on her several times and she was sleeping

I know and realize that she is away from what she has known all of her
young life and cries. We try to distract her with her toys, but I am curious
how long this will last ? It just tugs at my heart when she whines. We rub those great basset ears and assure her everything will be all right.

Any ideas would be appreciated and how long the tranisition will last ?

We are two weeks in now with our new family member, Maggie. Though she is six months old she is still stressed from the transition of homes. She whines a LOT. The good thing for us is that at least part of the time it is because she needs to go potty. But the other times, well... we are trying to learn her cues but it is frustrating. Some will say you should give her attention before she asks for it by whining and that may be true. But it doesn't help if she is crying WHILE you are loving on her and reassuring her.
I like the sound machine idea. Also you may want to forfeit an old teeshirt that smells like you for her bed.
I know it is troubling but hang in there and congrats on your new furbaby!
