Hey guys. New member here. I happened to stumble upon this board and can't stop reading! I never thought there would be forum dedicated to Basset's. Since i'm new, here's a few pics of my two buddies. My tricolor's name is Rosco P. Coltrane and my red/white is Cletus Hogg. That's their full names on their papers, of course we just call them Rosco and Cletus. :) Rosco is just over 6 months and Cletus is just over 10 months. Thank you all for such a great site and look forward to more great posts.

Thank you for the warm welcome. On a side note. We got Cletus from an AKC registered breeder. He was a few months older than the brand new puppies he had and the only one left over from a previous litter. The owner lived on a rather large (20 acre) ranch in and let him run around pretty much wherever he wanted which resulted in him having infected foxtails in three of his paws and two in the side of his chest! All of which had to be removed surgically. The breeder had a bunch of brand new puppies, but my kids fell in love with Cletus right away. It was if he was begging to go home with us. We couldn't let him go back to that kind of environment and home he came. It's not that the breeder treated him bad, it's just that he didn't treat him at all. Thankfully, he's back to new. :)

Ok, I admit I'm a blonde, but what are fox tails???
It is a type of seed bearing grass. When the tops of the seed heads dry and break off, they can work into the skin of dogs (or any type of pet really). They are prominent in California in the summer. Here a link with more info.
