My wife and I just added Rosco P. Coaltrain to our life. He is a 13 week old tri-color. I am sure this site will be very helpful and I have a question already. I am crate training him do to the fact that no one is home for several hours during the day. When I get home his neck and front paws are wet. He does not smell like urine. I think he slobbers on himself from crying. Has anyone else had this happen. Also when I give him a bath or his neck is wet from being in the cage, he acts like his front paws don't work and scrubs his neck on the ground while he is running around the house. Any input would be appreciated.

just using carpet, rugs etc to dry off. Bassets are well know for running around like chickens with their head cut off after a bath

If available set up a video camera aimed at the crate use the extended record time and you will know what is up. Seperation anxiety is not uncommon
