[Sandy and Bo]

Early this morning I was awakened by what I thought was an old tomcat outside my window, making ungodly noises. After an while I realised it wasn't coming from outside, it was coming from Bo!

His bowels are making an awful churning and rumbling noise this morning. Yet he doesn't seem to be in any discomfort at all. His tummy is soft, but I can feel a lump about the size of an egg. He is wagging his tail, and barked at the milkman, etc. Seems very normal in every other way.

But it sounds like he is about to explode!!! It's so loud. It's been going on for about three hours.
My vet isn't in for another two hours, it's only 7:30 am here.

Any ideas what this is all about? Does it souind like an obstruction?

Jake's tum makes the same noise quite regularly. It usually happens early morning and is often followed by a farting session! Doesn't last very long and he certainly doesn't seem to suffer. I haven't yet pinpointed the cause. Agree it's quite an alarming sound...'old tomcat' sums it up nicely!

Rusty gets that horrible sound when he has bowel gas. Most of the time, the can't actually "pass" the gas. When he gets that I give him one dose of GasX. It seems to relieve it. ASK your Vet about the GasX first. I know it's okay for dogs just make sure. I know sometimes it has been used to prevent bloat. I think it really is gas. Good Luck and let us know!

The crisis has 'passed'. it was gas.
