So, I came home from work and couldn't figure out why Hazel smelled like a fish, or almost like baby desitin!
She hadn't been to the pond, or even in the woods.
Much to my surprise she found a bottle of fish oil caps (vitamins)
and apparently helped herself to the bottle off the table and ate the last 4!!!!
This dog is so mischieveous!!! She now is so shiny it is unbelievable!!lol
So-no harm done thank god, but now when you pet her shes super slick.
Your hand slides off her long body....^_^

Oh my word! That is so funny. I would love to know what they're thinking when they decide to get into odd things. Of course you get that innocent look from them implying they did nothing wrong.

That is too funny!! Some of the things they get into. When Mattie was a puppy she got into the pantry and helped herself to the cooking oil. She was playing the the bottle it comes in. Cause she loved playing with water bottles. The kitchen floor was like a ice skating ring. LOL!! Let's just say after that child proof locks went on the cabinet doors!! LOL!!

With that notes, I have a question.. Usual commercial fish oil product contains Retinol (preformed vit A). Should this raised a concern for a dog? I knew that Vit A can be poisonous when consumed too much especially since Retinol is fat soluble type (meaning that the excess cannot be excreted via the act of urination or defecation).

Omg my Gracie is the same way. She steals potatos out of the bag. She chewed a Tylenol bottle... not the pills just the bottle. She tried to eat a garbage can lid. Plastic is her favorite. I have no idea why. Its funny but im afraid she will hurt herself. She is better now that she i almost 3 but she still gets into trouble lol.

Never thought about it, but just did some research and found this

"Because vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that is stored until needed, it is possible to give your dog too much vitamin A. Too much vitamin A is considered to be anything over 113,600 IU per pound of food consumed on a dry matter basis according to Doctor Foster & Smith. For vitamin A to be toxic, that dosage would have to be given daily for months. Muscle weakness and bone abnormalities may result. Toxicity is uncommon but should still be considered when feeding your dog foods rich in vitamin A."

Yeah, Snickers has been on this kick lately of stealing the insoles out of her Daddy's shoes. It's kinda gross! Plus she steals water bottles, (full or empty) and the other day, my husband was making a sandwich, and when he turned to get someting out of a drawer, guess who helped herself? Kinda made me giggle!

I have a facebook "friend" that is a clumber spaniel who likes to carry beer bottles around in his mouth. They call him the booze hound. The pictures are hysterical.

I've never met a hound dog that could resist an unguarded sandwich. :D

One month before we had to say goodbye to Lucy, she ate 1/2 of a red velvet cake. It happened like this: During the time she was uncomfortable, she liked going out side at night. This past fall, we had many warm nights, so she could be out in the evenings and maybe for an hour after dark. We had lights in the yard so we could keep an eye on her and she would watch us through the sliding glass door. This routine helped to comfort her, plus she just looooooooooooved to stalk the rabbits after dark. Anyhow, one night she watched me through the window bake a red velvet cake, she must have enjoyed the sweet aroma from afar for over an hour. I let her into the house, turned my back on her for a moment to get something out of the fridge and I heard the distinct familiar sound of "licking chops". There she was, front legs up on the kitchen chair, helping herself to the bottom layer of the red velvet cake I had just spend two hours preparing. I was steamed for about one one-hundredth of a second, then started to laugh. I am so happy to have this final "food thief" memory of my best friend!

When we first got Gibbs he demolished a plate full of hot wings...climbed right up on the couch when my hubby went out to have a cigarette (I was back here on the computer...most likely on Cyberhound) and helped himself. He needed many bathroom trips that night. =/

these stories are hilarious! toby is getting bigger by the day, and now we have to push all the chairs in to our table because he figured out he can jump on the chair, then from the chair climb up on the table. i have NEVER had another dog do that. he mostly just gets cat food, but he has gotten ahold of dinners before if i get up to refill my drink and dont push my chair in. it's so funny to turn around and see a dog on top of the table.

Camp fire shark

Lucy especially loved when we had a campfire. She instinctively knew to circle the youngest guests like a shark. She was always good for one or two hot dogs..........or three, or four. The older she got, the bolder she got, she was known to snatch a hot dog away from any unsuspecting guest no matter who they were! So when I read about Miss Snickers grabbing a sandwich, I had to "giggle" too!

There ain't nothing like a hound dog!

You can't leave food unattended in this house either. Mattie sits and watchs the food until you either give her some or she steals it. She has got better as she has got older cause now we can leave the room (as long as myself or my husband is watching the plate that was left unatteneded too) without Mattie helping herself.
Mattie can be a food stealer but we still love her to the moon and back!!

I really would have never needed to use the dishwasher b/c whenever I was loading it, Lucy was right there............licking off all the dishes! Yep, if she was given the chance, she licked 'em clean............then all we had to do was run it through the sanitizer cycle...............just kidding, we did use the wash cycle!
