The leptospirosis test came back negative, so we still don't have a specific cause for Murray's liver problems and weight loss.
In the meantime,Murray has gained a little weight. This is a really good development and may show that the Baytril, Amoxicillin, and Denamarin are helping. Watching him turning into a little dog skeleton despite extra food was really scaring me, so I'm feeling better now too.
We'll be at the vet's office Friday morning at 7:30 am to take more blood and see where is liver enzymes are- if they are going down this may be the end of his problems; if they continue to go up we'll just keep monitoring and support his liver with Denamarin and diet, and treat him as a liver patient and monitor him indefinitely. We won't do a surgical liver biopsy unless he starts going down again.
I'll let you know how it goes Friday- thanks to everyone who responded to my posts, I've been pretty upset about all this and your support has really been appreciated
Heavenly Father,
Please help Murray's Mom in her time of need,
You have made her a steward of Murray.
Please restore Murray
to health and strength.
I pray too for other animals in need.
May they be treated with the care and respect
deserving of all Your creation.
Blessed are You Lord God,
and holy is Your name for ever and ever
gsally: I wasn't able to private message you, so will post what I tried to email you:
"I wanted to thank you personally for the beautiful prayer for Murray. I've been pretty upset over his illness, and your prayer means alot to me: I printed a copy and have it at my desk at home. I especially love the sentiment:
" I pray too for other animals in need.
May they be treated with the care and respect
deserving of all Your creation."
Thank you so much.
Peace.
Mary"
And thank you to everyone for your kind words and wishes for Murray's health. He's gaining some weight back, and I'm trying to stay optimistic.
Like George Washington, "I can not tell a lie"............I copied & modified the prayer from a web site listing prayers for animals. Whenever my heart is touched by the distress of a a sick animal, I always search for the St. Francis prayes for animals. My heart just aches when I read of the health challenges of beloved pets. They become like our children, it's so hard when they are sick and it's very stressful.........I know first hand. Thanks so much for taking such good care of Murray........every pet should be so lucky. Sr. pets need extra special care so you've got to take care of yourself so you can continue to care for Murray..........hang in and God Bless!
