The neurologist just called to tell me Molly is walking on her own!!!! My prayers were answered. They're weaning her off the pain meds and the vet said Molly has quite the appetite! She's coming home Mon. and Stryker is off to visit Grandpa for at least 2 weeks. Week from hell is officially OVER!! Thank all of you SO much. The healing drool worked! The vet wanted to know what phone # to use when she calls me for updates this weekend. I told her of course the work #, I'll be working 7 days a week for the next few months to pay the vet bills. She laughed too. Take care everyone, Belinda.

Oh Belinda, that is AWESOME!!! What a relief huh?? Will you go see her this weekend at all? I suppose that would be harder on her...seeing you and not being able to come home. Wow, that is the best news ever. Thanks for letting us know!

Thanks everyone! She's a "trooper", just like the vet said. She got at least 2 hunting titles with the 1st herniated disc (that NONE of the vets I took her to (4?)diagnosed). These Bassets are unbelievable. Talk to you later, and THANK YOU!!!!!! Belinda.

Will it never end?! I just got back from the emergency room. Seems I have pleurisy. Intense lung pain. For me to go to a doctor, let alone the emergency room, is amazing. Guess who's quitting smoking? Thank goodness I have insurance for myself at least. And thank goodness for drugs. I'm picking up Molly tommorrow, will let you all know how she is. I was wrong, week from hell wasn't officially over! Take care, Belinda. And Billy, Molly is retired from the field. How sad.

Hi Belinda,

Many thoughts and much Drool going your way. Hang in there. I hope you are feeling better soon, and that Molly is up and about and starting to feel well again . At least she'll be back with you soon.

Belinda, fabulous news about Molly. Not so fabulous about you...Now you have to start taking care of YOU because, otherwise, who'll be able to provide all the slavery bassets demand? I know you can do it!!! Do it for you.
Good Luck,
Beverly and His Majesty

Thanks everyone! Does anyone know how long the sympoms last for pleurisy? It's been 2 days and I really want to get back to work. Neither the (I almost wrote "vet"!) Dr. nor the computer have offered up an answer. I'm on ibuprofen and vicoden (sp?) and still hurt. Molly's good. I have to walk her with one of those belly slings when she goes out just so I can catch her if she slips. She doesn't need it. Her tail is wagging but I know she's bored. I have to find some kind of good chewy for her, she's picky and doesn't care for toys. Some critter has taken up residency under a corner of the house. The only reason I know this is because the first thing she did when we got home from the vet's yesterday was to make a beeline for that spot and start to dig "it" out! Always the hunter!! She told me in no uncertain terms that her being in the crate when I'm home is unexceptable. All she does is sleep anyway, and my house is tiny with no stairs so it's kind of like a really big crate. She needs 3 mos. of rest. I look forward to the day when we can start "go for a walk" therapy. Take care, Belinda.

Belinda, the one time I ever had pleurisy, I missed 5 days of work. And when I went back, I still felt awful, but able to make it through the day. I do hope you feel better soon. And wonderful news about Molly! I'm so thankful she's doing so well. Thinking of you both!

Molly sounds like she feels *alot* better than you do. It must be great to have her home.
