Our litte Roo loves to "bury" her favorite chew toys in the living room carpet. She will put them down against a wall or corner and push at the carpet with her nose like she is burying the toy in the dirt. After running around burying it in one corner then sneaking it over to bury in another corner she has come away with a scraped up nose Is it safe to put first aid ointment on it (like neosporin)?
Yes you could do that or Vasoline since you know she is going to lick it off. You may want to curb that behavior it is cute but if she rubs her nose raw enough she could start an infection.
Awww... my last dog (different type of hound) did that too and had a little pink spot on his nose that eventually healed on its own. I don't think we put anything on it. Hope you feel better soon, Roo!
Yep, I've seen Toby do this too. After reading this I am going to now discourage him.
