Many people said that they lost their pets in the past for some reasons.
My friends told me about some one lost their dogs in the trip. It's bad.
I think we shall do our best for the pets and make a pet tag for the pets. In that way, people can call you if someone found your pet.
Today I found some cool pet tags site and here is nice one and you may like to see it too, but there are tons of the site on the net.

I've started VPI pet health insurance on our pups, and part of it is a plastic tag with their name and an nationwide 800 number if they are found.. I am also considering having them micro chipped.. Still not sure about that.. But after the news story about the cat from AZ that ended up in a kill shelter in Chicago that had a chip and because of it was sent back to the owner.
Does anyone have any info about micro chipping? Flash has an ID tag with my name and phone # but I'd be interesed in learning more about the micro chip.
Unfortunately tags and collars have cause dog deaths via strangulation when the get caught on things. So they are not 100% risk free. Micro chipping and tattoo are alternative to tags and collars but are not as user friendly for those finding a lost dog. Their are risks which each individual must assess and contientious individual will disagree what is the best approach, Personally I and not a big fan of collars and tags on dogs that are physically confined.I think we shall do our best for the pets and make a pet tag for the pets.

Haven't had Roscoe done yet, but since he was dealing with just being neutered and another infection when we saw the vet, I thought it might be wise to wait.

I agree with Mikey. I am not a fan of collars or tags. The risk of strangulation is a serious one. Microchipping is a good idea. Home Again offers a great plan with their microchipping. Check out their website. There are also other microchips available. Check with your Vet.
Not yet. But I studied several different companies and like how this one sounded the best. My sister who is a breeder recommended a different one that has better percent pay back, but when I looked at it they didn't really have an option for checkup, teeth cleaning, or other maintenance coverage, just injury or illness.. This wasn't a problem for her as they were all things they don't cover she does herself.i just got the same insurance for toby. have you used it yet? do you like it?
As far as collars, we are using the type with the plastic release in them. Not sure if that would break before the dog could choke, but has to be a little safer then metal. And the reason I'm thinking about chipping them is because we take the collars off when they are in the house or our fenced back yard and I'm worried they might get out. Not that I leave them out or unattended for very long, but still.
My dogs do not wear collars most of the time. If we are travelling, they have plastic snap collars with my cell number written directly on the collar (no tags to lose or snag).
Our Bogie is microchipped through the AVID Pet Trac program. He was chipped by our vet in South Dakota three years ago. When we moved to Memphis we had the vet here check and his registeration popped right up on her computer screen when she scanned him. We corrected all his info with AVID of new address and phone number when we moved, and got a new tag that goes on his traveling collar when we travel in the RV. The tag has his chip number and where to call. Our Memphis vet found that his chip had moved from the site where it was inserted and is now much lower on his back shoulder area. She said this is pretty common with Bassets with all their loose skin.
He also wears a collar with his name and our phone number embroidered into the collar. We ordered the collar from Orvis, just go to the dog section, then collars and leads. Bogie has the personalized one that reflects in the dark.
