10 days ago, after a long wait, I adopted Benji, a 3 year old basset boy...

And now I have MORE news...

Yesterday morning, Rescue called me again, to say that they have an 18 month old basset boy, who had no name and no home and had been wandering the streets for weeks before someone picked him up and brought him to the centre... and would I be interested in going to visit...

3 hours later... I'm now mum to Rusty, Snoopy, Benji & Henry... Or his new full name Hurricane Henry the Hoover Hound! He's the sweetest cuddliest basset boy, very friendly and affectionate with EVERYONE, and even Snoopy likes him (although he had his "put out" face on all day again yesterday).

Benji's still settling in well, but I think is benefitting from Snoopy being distracted by Henry - those two have been taking it in turns to belly-flop onto each other from the sofa all afternoon....

Pictures of my new Pack later!

The more , the merrier! :D

I know the "risks"....... I am the slave to 4 Bassets. Grand , old Lady Clara (11 and a half, a rescue dog)), Ben and Billy (litterbrothers over 8 ) and Ludvig ( 5 and a half, also rescue).

I can`t wait for the pics!!

All the best wishes from Tina

I just couldn't say no when Henry ran over to me at the Rescue center carrying his lead!

Henry? Henry's mine, and I got him at a shelter. I'd gone there with some sense of the sort of dog I wanted, and spent some time, but didn't see my dog.

As I was walking out, the lady at the desk came after me and asked if I would consider a Basset. I said sure, and she explained that they had a male Basset who'd been a stray, and had no chip or tags. Their policy was to wait a week before putting them up for adoption, and she checked and confirmed that he could be adopted.

So, I went to look at Henry, and within a couple of minutes he was my dog.

bless you. you definately now do have you're hands full!

you are an insparation to me. ever since i've seen you're posts before addopting Benji we've been thinking long and hard about getting on the list for a rescue basset.

we would really like a dog rather than a bitch. can you acutally specify what sex you prefer?

we have snoops (a girl) and think a boy would be best. she is 14 months old now.

cant wait to see some pictures of Henry and the gang! i'm sure my Snoopy will have some very sad eyes on her if and when we bring a new dog back into 'her' house!

Congratulations! Now . . . I've heard of a "Dalmation Plantation", but what could we call a home full of bassets?

A Hound Hotel? A Hound Compound?

There will be a jewel in your crown for helping these poor dogs. I wish there were more people like you!

Congratulations! A pack of your very own... how FUN! :D My friend had five Bassets together at one time (the two elderly hounds have passed on but she still has the three pups - now almost three years old). I used to pop in while she was working to let them out and spend a little time with them. It was loads of fun to see thier hilarious antics as they competed for my attention  , gave me lots of slobbery kisses :p , and if I sat down I got buried in warm wrinkled hounds  . What more could a person want? Best wishes to you and your pack!

A home full of basset hounds is known as an Insane Asylum.

As mom to three bassets myself I have to agree with this statement. You are in for a wonderful ride.
