Hello All.
I am so happy to have found somewhere I can talk Basset. I would like to intrduce myself and my daughter. My name is Kat and this is my little girl Dee, or if you want to be formal Ch. Beauchasseur Free D'lite. She is a 3 year old tri and an ex show dog. Dee went in for breeding last Christmas and got an infection and had to abort the litter and be desexed, which is why she is now living with me and our cat Frankie. I say "our" as the Basset now runs the house and nothing is "mine" anymore which I am sure you are all familer with.
I have never been part of a forum before so please bare with me if I don't know what I am doing.
I really look forward to chatting to everyone, and i really should shut up now and get some photos downloading.

She's beautiful. Welcome to the group. I have Lightning, a male tricolor who is now <gasp> 9 years old (I still see him as a puppy), and Stomps, another male tricolor who was a rescue so I don't know his exact age but he's probably around 12. There are a lot of great dogs (and people) on this board, and I'm sure you'll enjoy reading about their antics. And we look forward to Kat stories as well. And pix are always encouraged!

Hi Kat and welcome! Dee is beautiful Basset and such wonderful pictures. We have Bogie Carter, a two year old tri colored neutered male and live in South Dakota. There are two Bogie's on the forum, so we added our last name to our Bogie to avoid confusion.

Welcome from Australia, Dee weighs 23kg. Is that normal for a basset??

Normal for a basset? Hard to say, as there does not seem to be a normal
when it comes to bassets and weight. They vary tremendously. My previous
basset weighed 25 kg, Mr. Runcible is 40 kg.

Anyway, I think she's a real beauty. She kind of reminded me of this one:

I lived in Budrim, Australia when I was ten. Our neighbours had a basset when we lived there. He was 'bad to the bone', and we fell in love with him. So when we got back to Canada, we just HAD to get a basset, and they've been in my life ever since. I LOVE Australia!!!
