The family (including Chloe) took a walk in the neighborhood yesterday to enjoy the wonderful weather we are having right now (70s and sunny). Another person with a dog on a leash approached and started walking on the other side of the street. She said, "My dog is friendly." I replied, "Chloe has never met a do she didn't like." We let the dogs sniff each other and all of sudden, Chloe lunges, snarles and barks at this other dog like she wants to take her head off! I pulled her away and stammered I'd never seen her act this way before. I'm sure the woman thought, 'yeah, right", but really, I hadn't. Chloe continued to wag her tail during and after the altercation, but I have NO idea what got into her. Maybe she is just getting nasty in her old age (10 1/2 years)?

Any ideas? I'm little reluctant to take her to the off-leash dog park this year. :?: :?: :?:

Beldin has only ever growled at one other dog while out on a walk ... it was a pug and the thing was off-leash and managed to get itself pretty much wedged under Beldin and Beldin didn't like that one bit!

He started growling (hackles raised and everything) and the pugs owner started yelling at ME telling me that my dogs were visious and they better not hurt his "precious" ...

I told him he should keep his "precious" on a leash! Since we were not in an off-leash area and it's the law and I had my dogs under control and it was his that was provoking Beldin!

He kind of harumphed and we managed to get the dogs seperated and he scopped up the pug and was cooing to it as they walked away ..."Did that big meanie weenie beastie hurt my diddums?".... *puke*

*hehe* Sorry about the little vent there...

Anyhow ... all other times Mocha and Beldin love meeting other dogs of all sizes and shapes. And I've never heard either one of them growl or get snappy at any other dogs. (Each other and the household dogs excluded *lol*)

Sadie (11 yrs) and Spencer (almost 10 yrs) have both gotten less tolerant as they have gotten older, both with other dogs & children. I have to be very careful when I walk them, in order not to have any altercations.

Dixie will lunge and snarl ...every once in while. Depends on the dog. Belvedere would never do it. Never has. We're still trying to figure out if there a particular type that alarms her.

Good luck. Just hold on tight!
