The point of crossing any breed with a poodle is to get a dog that doesn't shed or sheds minimally. I personally think that's priceless, although I can't afford those prices. I think those puppies are about the cutest things I've ever seen. Bassets didn't pop out of a pod fully formed--they were made by cross-breeding. So by some people's definition all dogs are mutts. I see nothing wrong with crossing two breeds to get what some might call an improved "breed". And they charge what the market will pay.
