My 7 year old Basset suddenly could not walk! The vet said it was a disc problem and gave her steroids. Fortunately, she responded immediately. Has anyone else experienced this? I am so worried that it may come back! I am keeping her off of furniture so she cannot jump down and make it worse although she is so spoiled, I can't imagine re-training her. Any suggestions?

I just spent $4,000 at the vet specialist for Molly's 2 herniated discs surgery. And she could walk before the surgery. DO NOT let your dog jump on or off of anything or do stairs. I think the steroids are a temporary fix. Have an MRI done to determine the extent of the damage. This is a very serious problem! Crate the dog when you are not at home or barricade all furniture to prevent your dog from jumping. Take care, Belinda.
