Many thanks for all the information. It gives me a better idea about how to approach buying a harness. I can't use a crate because he will have NOTHING to do with being crated. Not even in Frankie's big one in the house. Just to add I don't want to force this and destroy the trust we are building up with him.
I now have a ramp, but this too is going to be a work in progress. This boy, sweet natured as he is, freaks out with new things way more than any B. I've ever had. As said, his breeder didn't show and I don't think did much of anything with her hounds other than to let them out to run in her big field.. I hope this isn't a case of 'you can't teach old dogs new tricks'. He has accepted not emptying (both) indoors now and goes to the outside door without being told. I just have to watch that he's gone to the door so I get it opened.
I'd love to be able to take him in somewhere (shop) to be measured for a harness, but it's a question of getting him IN the car to get there at the moment.
He is a bit of a challenge and I'm wondering if the things I've heard about the temperament of tricolours vs bicolours, is true? Our only home-bred lemon/white was really quite different to his siblings and the rest of our tris. 😢
PS During our 'ramp on the floor' session this morning, he realised that he could get to the treats via THE SIDE OF THE RAMP so he didn't need to put any feet on it. He's not daft (he probably leaves that to me!). However, eventually he had all four on the ramp for the treat - I had to cover it with a towel because of the drooling!! I ended the session on a positive.
