I found a free 21/2 year old basset female on creigs list, they said they were keeping her out side because they no longer had time for her, I responded to the add thinking i wanted to rescue her and turn her over to the basset rescue, but i have gotten no response. I sure hope they found her a good home, i hate to think of her outside.

Uhm, just be patience.
Like you said these folks have no time to take care of the basset. May be, they are too busy at work/school/kids, so it might take them a while to reply to you too.
If I were you, I'll contact them again a couple of days.
