As part of on-going education for my pet therapy organization's evaluators, I recently attended a "Training the Trainers" class. The book used was by Turid Rugass, called "On Talking terms With Dogs: Calming Signals".

Here is a discription of the book from a back cover blurb:
" Norwegian dog trainer and behaviorist Turid Rugaas has made it her life work to study canine interaction. She coined the phrase "calming signals" to describe the social skills, sometimes referred to as body language, that dogs use to avoid conflict, invite play, and communicate a wide range of of information to other dogs- and also humans."

The book is a small, 79 page paperback with lots of photo illustrations. It is very informative and helpful to anyone who wants to understand dogs better. For anyone interested, it can be ordered on Amazon.
