Tomorrow is Francis's 8th birthday. I can't believe that it's been that long. It seems like only yesterday that my nieces and I brought that little handful of goofy puppy home. I had had him a year when I discovered Cyberhound and all you great people who have been so helpful and supportive, especially when Franny went blind. The encouragement I received from you all made the transition so much easier. He gets around so well and is still such an independent little cuss that many people don't believe he's blind when we meet the first time.
I think I'll stop at the market and bring him home his favorite (ground sirloin) and get him out for an extra long walk at the park.
Thanks everybody!!!!!!!!

Thank you one and all! Hey Barb, played that one here at work. Very popular!!!
We had a great day at the park except that we almost lost another basset there. Sweet little Paws was there one minute then ran out on the Charles River and fell through the ice!!!! She was almost a goner but her owner got out there to the very edge of the ice (Thank God it held) and pulled the panicky pooch out and they both made it back to shore. It was very, very scary and a real tragedy was narrowly missed.
Once our heart rates returned to normal Fran and I continued to walk and walk and walk until he was exhausted (on a very icy surface, by the way, that dog OWES me) and then we went home to a hearty boiled chopped sirloin and yoghurt dinner (his fave). Now I'm at work (a nurse on the night shift) and His Majesty is home sleeping it off.
He's a great little guy and I'm proud of him. Thanks

Francis is such a cool hound. When you told us about taking him to the park, after he lost his eyesight, and how happy and fearless he was, I had the biggest grin on my face. I was so proud of him. I love stories about francis! Give him a big hug from me...

Happy Birthday, Francis! :D :D :D

And a sidenote --- I just started feeding my guys yogurt, Beverly - they love it! I've been making it at home, thanks the the very cheap and easy Salton Yogurt Maker (omg, no more of the hundreds of plastic containers!), and they're now getting a big dollop of it every day. I was shocked how much they took to it.

You and Francis enjoy the rest of your day --- but stay away from that ice. Glad to hear that one poor baby got pulled out, with no further incident. Scary.
