NBC news just had a story regarding the homeless dogs from Katrina and said that less than 15% of them have been reunited with their owners. Interviewed a lady who found one of her dogs, but who is still searching the internet daily for her other dog. I think because so many people had to move away and are still away, many of the dogs found will have to be rehomed. Its really sad to think about, even with everyone doing their darndest to reunite people and their pets.

My heart breaks when I think of the animals still out there, and for all those who died sad and alone. Everyone from all the organizations across the country who worked on this gut-wrenching, monumental rescue operation deserves a special place in our rememberances this holiday season.
