Hi, how are you doing today? It's been a week for you, has it gotten any easier? I still feel like it was 10 minutes ago and I haven't drawn a deep breath since. God, they were good dogs, weren't they? Glaucoma, etc...they were still worth every last penny we spent on them and I would have spent a million more. Thirteen years I got and I'm grateful but, hey! call me greedy, I wanted a lot more and I know you did too. Please know I'm thinking and praying for you and know that I really, really care.

"they" say it gets easier with time. "they" would be wrong. it does not get easier but you tend to get better at compartimentalizing and avoiding things that bring up sad memory. It is the necessary evil the yin to the yang of have the joy of unconditional love. A trade off that I would make anytime

I'm so sorry to hear about Emma... and I know you will be feeling really sad but think of the happy times and lovely memories Emma gave you.
I know what you went through with Glaucoma because we adopted an 'abandoned' Basset (tied up outside a dog rescue thankfully) who had early stages of Glaucoma and despite spending a huge amount of money on various treatments, poor Hudson got full blown Glaucoma in one eye and within 18 months in the other eye and he broke our hearts seeing him fully blind, yet we were told by the eye specialist not to show him that we were feeling sad about his condition, but it was very hard not to. Despite his blindness he loved to walk along the lanes on a long lead and sniff out the hares and pheasants and he would also follow our other two Bassets. xx
