I know its been a while since i have been on there are many reasons that i wont go into, but wanted to share the news that we now have 3 bassets again. we were not looking but emily just sort of came to us. she is at least 9 years old and very sweet. She has had a tramatic past few weeks. she was an only dog living with a gentleman (who obviously spoiled her rotton) he died in his sleep and was dead for around 5 days before being discovered and poor emily there with him, his brother took her home but couldn't keep her then we found out (through mutual friend) that they were looking for a good home for her someone who understoood bassets so we said that we would take her. Poor baby was soooo skinny and confussed. but she is slowly coming around she is very attatched to my husband and insistes on sleeping on ( and under the covers) the bed. She is not an alpha so things are much better in the house then with maddie ( if you remember that one) Atticus still grumps at her but she just stays out of his way and all is well. ryobi wants to be her friend but she is use to being an only dog so so far no bonding but we have only had her a few weeks so that will come with time.
she is so sweet and is doing much better, she gets lots of love and hugs so hopefully she will settle in and feel at home.
Is so much fun coming home to have 3 bassets excited to see you!!!!!!

So glad that Emily has found a wonderful home. Poor girl, what an ordeal for her to go through, and I'm sure she misses her former owner terribly. I'm sure she will become a wonderful addition to your family. Glad you are back posting again.

We got our first Basset Sasha Foo when my brother died. It took her a few weeks to get settled and since we hadn't planned on having a dog it took us a few weeks too! We had her for nearly ten years and she was just great. I know Emily will settle right in. I'm so glad you you could take her in!

Sasha got us hooked on Bassets. Good thing we don't own acreage. :)
