Mine have always done that. I'll get home, they greet me at the door, then go run and have a big drink. It's like they purposefully don't drink in fear they will have to pee before I get home. Same for food.

The only eating habit that really irritated me is when one carried his food bowl into the bedroom and jumped up on the bed with it. I guess he wanted breakfast in bed. I followed the trail of bread crumbs so to speak, and just had to laugh when I saw him sitting up there, very proud, munching away.
