i noticed lately that my basset's eating habbits are a bit unusual. just this evening i put her in her crate with a full bowl of food for dinner time and left to go to the mall. When i came home and let her out i noticed that her bowl wasnt touched. I went to go change my clothing and when i came back the bowl of food was gone.

It's not that she just doesnt like to eat in her crate, the same thing happened this morning when i fed her breakfast and left to go to the grocery store and she was out of her crate the whole time and in the company of my husband and son.

is it possible she has a separation anxiety from me?
thoughts, suggestions, comments appreciated

Mine rarely touch their food when it's mealtime. I leave it for them and they eat when they are ready. If they are hungry and there's no food, they are sure to let me know. What can you do if a dog doesn't want to eat at mealtime? Not much. I pick my battles with these two. As long as they are eating and healthy, I don't make a big deal out of it.

i eat in my crate. i got in there this AM with a bowl of food while everyone was in the BATHTUBS (*shudder*). i didn't eat it so they took it up. they're trying to get me used to this routine still and sometimes i miss the mark but they dont want me used to having anytime access to food.

The only eating habit that really irritated me is when one carried his food bowl into the bedroom and jumped up on the bed with it. I guess he wanted breakfast in bed. I followed the trail of bread crumbs so to speak, and just had to laugh when I saw him sitting up there, very proud, munching away.

Randolph will suck down anything I give him, the moment it hits the floor. Mortimer on the other hand will not eat until Randolph finishes his bowl. Which wouldnt be so bad, but Randolph immediately goes for Mort's food and I spend the whole time wrestling the little fatty until Morty is done.

With Chuck it's almost like you can hear a vacuum turn on as soon as he sees the food. He's a little pig and won't let a single kibble go to waste! Chumlee has gotten pretty good at guarding his own bowl so I don't have to play referee anymore!

Lolololololololololol! Virga scarfs her food and Doppler takes his time with it. One time she stuck her nose into his bowl before he was done and he growled and snapped at her. He scared the bejesus out of her. But now she'll wait until he's done eating before checking his bowl. Then they'll switch bowls and check to make sure each other ate everything in their own bowls. It's funny to watch.
