Does your Basset ever show any sign of remorse after its gotten into some mischief?

I most definitely wouldn't call it remorse. It's more like "Dang, I'm busted!" and then the proverbial hound-dog look. Huck knows when he's in trouble for sure as he will lower his head and look up at me with that pathetic gaze and then slowly slink off to another room!

Bo doesn't show remorse because he has no clue he's done anything wrong.
When I scold him, he searches my face for some clue as to why I'm talking to him like that. He looks as me as if to say, 'what? what's wrong?'

It's impossible to get mad at him. He's too sweet.

George will PRETEND to be sorry for having done something awful, but of course, he's not REALLY. He just wants me to think he is. He'll duck his head and peek up at me and hold his tail down low and wag just the tip, very fast (instead of swinging the whole tail as usual) but the whole time we both know he's really thinking, "Honestly, Mom, you can't POSSIBLY be annoyed about this! Wasn't it actually really CUTE??? And don't you think I should have a snack now?"

Emma is standing on the coffee table eating cookies, when I ask her what she's doing. Then she calculate if she can grab another before I can reach her - she don't give a damn....

They just don't care.
Henrietta knows when she did something bad, she usually steps aside and pretend everything is okay.

Winston is more like "What?? what did I do? I'm innocent!"

There was one time, he sat on my lap and I was looking out thru a window enjoying a nice beautiful sunday afternoon....then he actually licked a glass of my OJ while I'm holding it and I didn't notice it happened. I drank the OJ without knowing it has been "contaminated"....my hubby just burst into tears, laughing.

This morning...

well i thought i wouldnt post but ....this morning she was all sulky (maybe remorseful even? ;-) ) well...my husband found my poofy little purple fury slipper in the garden!!! just after i had pondered her sulkyness....well that explains that!!! bad pudding bad!!! hee hee

Menna doesn't show remorse but because she never does anything. She told me so and of course I believe even when she stole my bagel yesterday and it was hanging out of her mouth.

I don't know if it is remorse but he definitely knows when he did something wrong. He kind of lowers his head and slinks, as much as a 65lb dog can, to the door to go outside or goes and lays on his bed and "sleeps". Then you get great big eyes and not even my hubby can stay mad at him. :roll:

Remorse.... Heck No! Sabian has a poker face, you never know if he is responsible for trouble. Pearly on the other hand always sulks away from trouble she has made, but I think she is just upset because she has been caught!

I have to say that my 7 year old Trixie does show remorse. It is more like, I know I did something wrong, so I'll punish myself by staying in my playpen. The thing is, when she's done something wrong she usually tells on herself but not being eager to come out of her playpen.

The closest they come is chagrin over being stopped from completing whatever mission required intervention on your part.
