Dart is my fabulous senior, who is about 11 years old. He had been horribly neglected & abused when I got him about a year ago but has never been anything except sweet and loving.

Last Monday he went to the vet to have some lumps removed. One of them turned out to be a very large tumor on his shoulder. On Wed. morning he was bleeding and leaking from his incision so it was back to the vet. The put a drain in and bandaged him up and he came back home. Thursday the bandage seemed really wet to me, so it was back to the vet. They assured me it was normal and told me to come back Sat. to change to bandage. On Sat. they discovered some of the stitches had broken so they kept him there all weekend. Unfortunately hubby brought him in on Sat. - I would've taken him home and brought him back Monday.

Yesterday they resutured him and found a lot of necrosis, that had been causing a lot of the problems. He had a checkup today and everything is (finally) looking good. We also got the lab results back from the original tumor and it was a squamous basal carcinoma. (Pardon my spelling!). However, it appears they got it all and we will just keep a close watch on him. I am optimistic about the future.

However, my sweet baby could use some spare drool! Please send any extra you have.

I took his pic yesterday when we got home - it was all he could do to wobble to his bed and take a long, well-deserved nap!

Dart's doing great! Our only problem is keeping him from scratching is bandage. We have a sock on his back paw - and it works most of the time.

He goes to the vet every other day to have it changed and checked. He loves going there and enjoys it even more now cause he comes to work with me when it's over with. And, of course, the staff dotes on him!

Thanks for asking.
