Hello All,

As a new father to a wonderful hound, I am a little anxious. We have had Daisy for 5 days now. (I asked for some diet help earlier in the week. Thanks to those who responded.)

My question this time has to do with a wease/cough Daisy has developed. It is not constant. She will be doing fine and then have a sudden short lived bout of the coughing/weasing. Is this something with the breed? Has anyone dealt with this before? I was talking to someone who said they had a Basset who had the same issue.

History: We adopted her from the humane society. From what they tell us, she is between 1 and 2 and was brought in as a stray. She still is having some loose stool, hoping it is just getting used to the new family and house.

Thanks,

Mark.

If Daisy is actually having bouts of coughing and weasing, she should probably be looked at by your vet. This sounds like it could possibly be 'reverse sneezing', and I have a bitch who does this when she's stressed. To stop it, I gently place my hand around her muzzle. This disrupts her breathing pattern enough to stop the 'choking'......
