My floor isn't purchased from IKEA, but I guess it's rather similar to those they have there, maybe produced in the same factory.
But don't buy the thinnest and cheapest they have, it's very easy to ruin the joints because it's too fragile. And be aware that laminate is very hard and noises from nails are multiplied. Water and urine will leak down in the joints and make them raise if not dried up rather fast.

Waterproof joints sounds like a good idea, 8 mm also.
Some laminate comes with a special coating underneath that's supposed to reduce noises.
