Do any of you have Bassets that can't stay in one spot while they poop? My 6 month old male will squat, but then it seems like he cant keep his balance and will walk in a straight line, while still squatting and pooping. It almost looks like when dogs have swollen glands and they do the itchy butt shuffle on the carpet, but hes pooping. The weird thing is he only does it if we let him out to the yard and he's pooping alone, but if we are on a walk and he goes, he stays in one spot. Anyone have that experience? I just thought it was a Basset thing because of their short legs. Should I be worried?

:D They are all different. Mine will do that, spreading it across the back area, but not always. I'd not say this is because he can't stay in one spot however. And when out on a walk, he does it in one neat pile. But then he's on a lead!! As long as the stools are firm, but not unduly hard, I'd suggest your hound is fine.
