I have discovered the most wonderful young Basset pup, probably about 6 months old, that lives at a house I drive past on my way to work. I of course now drive the same road every day just to see the wonderful dog! She is all brown, almost a chestnut color. What color is this considered? Is it considered red? Just curious....

I agree, it is a beautiful pup. I want so badly to stop and pet it but that may make the owners think I am nuts.....
Molly is a tri color and that seems to be most common around here.

They are considered either tricolor or red/white,
even though the red sometimes are more like brown,
some are pale and called lemon/white.

The red seems to fade a lot with age.
